Overflowing With Hope

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Be brutally honest and answer this question; “How many days has it been since you were so filled with hope that it spilled over into other people’s lives?”

Hope is a slippery thing to hold onto, even for Christians. Our experiences and our feelings cause our hope to surge and plunge. There is a better kind of hope for believers in Jesus Christ. We have been given, “…new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…” (1 Pet 1:3). This is living hope – it’s not dying. It’s not disappearing.

No matter how long ago that “overflowing-with-hope day” has been for you, today can be different. You serve a truly magnificent and mighty God who not only has hope, He IS hope, and God can fill you with Himself to the point of overflow – today.

God’s desire is for His children to be filled with His spirit and presence, and many times what hinders Him is our lack of trust. If it has been awhile since your last “overflowing-with-hope-day,” it may be time to ask yourself another question: “Are you putting your full trust in God?”

Today you could walk around all day filled with God’s presence. He is hope, He is joy and He is peace. So why not trust Him to fill you with hope today?

Actually, today needs to be an “overflowing-with-hope- day” for you. Today you will probably spend time with several people who have little or no hope at all. They are desperate to hold onto some of yours until God’s hope takes root in them. Will you be there for them today?
