Did You Hear That?
One of the most powerful revelations you can get as a Christian is the fundamental truth that we have a “personal God,” that means He is willing and able to connect with us individually. Jesus told us in Heb 13:5 “I will never leave you or forsake you” so we have this assurance of faith that He is right there with us through thick and thin.
It is amazing how we have devolved in our expectations from the early Church days concerning God communicating with us personally, though the Bible is full of examples. Perhaps it’s because we have had friends that have claimed to have heard from God and then went out and did something foolish as a result. Please be careful that you don’t limit what the Lord said to us in John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” Never forget that Christianity is a romance, not a religion! Too many have lived a life of middle of the road security and missed God’s best for their lives. Daniel 11:32 tells us that: the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. Again in Romans 8:14 it says “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. So you see, this is what God intended to be a normal Christian’s lifestyle. Close, intimate communion with God is our birthright and we should press in and find it for ourselves.
So, how does God reveal Himself to us personally? By far the number one way is through His written Word, the Bible! God gave us this Holy Word so you and I can have a measuring line to determine what is TRUTH and what is not. When you discover that the Bible is actually 66 love letters from the Creator of the Universe to you, it takes on a whole new role. As you read it and ask God to reveal the truth that is contained in it so you can spiritually discern it (1 Cor 2:14) your eyes will be opened like never before. There are other ways that He speaks to us but if you will focus on this part first you’ll keep yourself from the errors that others have fallen into.
